Colours of Costa Rica

It’s all about nature in Costa Rica. Approximately one quarter of the land is under nature conservation. We are talking about tropical rainforests, volcanoes, and cloud forests. By means of trials, adventurous cruises, or by a walk on hanging bridges through the treetops this incredible diverse nature can be admired, often with amazing ease. Many animals are easy to approach and observe. Imagine yourself sitting in a little boat just a few metres away from a spectacled caiman, with brutal apes in the trees above your head, with big Iquana’s on a paradise beach, and with colorful parrots flying against a wonderful blue sky. Edwin will take you on a colorful journey through several National Parks of Costa Rica.

Antarctica, a world in blue and white

Glistening white, bright blue, deep black, in the sunlight Antartica looks like a fairy-tale. ‘Rows of peaks and tips, full of cracks, wilder than any country on earth, there it is, never been seen, never been touched’ wrote Roald Amundsen when he discovered the Queen Maud Range in 1911 in Antarctica. Fauna in Antarctica is not very diverse but nevertheless abundant. Large penguin colonies, several species of seals such as the Weddel seal ( Leptonychotes wedell) and the Leopard seal ( Hydrurga leptonyx). And ofcourse the majestic whales, the Killer whales ( Orcinus orca) and many seebirds such as several species albatrosses and fulmars.

Madagascar, a biological treasure

This is the promised land and a biological treasury for nature admirers. After the separation of Madagascar of the southern supercontinent Gondwanaland 165 million years ago, unique flora and fauna has developped which nowhere else on earth is to be found. While on other continents animals and plants where dissapearing, here on Madagascar a unique nature was developping. Dancing sifaka’s, bizarre colored chameleons, and perfect camouflaged Leaf-tailed Gecko’s…

Nature in Close-Up

Macro photography: Photography of all the small things around us. Sunny weather, rain, strong wind, fog, heat or frost, any type of weather is suitable for macro photography. Even within walking distance of your own home, for example in your garden, you can find and photograph interesting subjects. Once you are able to feel close to the world of the little, a wonderful world will reveal itself to you. A world that is absolutely worthy being photographed. Still the trick is to make a fine composition in this multitude of tiny details on a few square centimeters. During this presentation Edwin shows his view on macro photography. Amongst other things he discusses technique and composition. A reading full of successful, intriguing and remarkable images.
